Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) is a new program at FEMA to help states, local communities, tribes and territories undertake hazard mitigation projects to reduce risks from disasters and natural hazards. This new pre-hazard mitigation program was authorized in the Disaster Recovery Reform Act of 2018 (DRRA), which amended the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act (Stafford Act).

Camille Crain, Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) Section Chief at FEMA Headquarters, will provide an overview of the program, case studies, and criteria for projects.

Megan Levy and Ben Bolton, Co-Chairs of the NASEO Energy Security Committee, will discuss technical assistance to tribal entities for energy resilience, ongoing county-level engagement on hazard mitigation planning for energy systems in Kentucky, and ongoing energy resilience and hazard mitigation planning for water/wastewater facilities in Tennessee.

Anna Pavlova, Vice President, Government Relations, Schneider Electric and Manny Perotin, Senior Project Manager, CDM Smith will provide industry perspectives on BRIC implementation and the types of projects that could be supported by this program.
