Ms. Duncan Brings Deep Non-Profit & Private Sector Energy Experience to CEBN’s Board

WASHINGTON, D.C. –The Clean Energy Business Network’s Board of Directors recently voted to unanimously approve Emily Duncan as its newest member. Ms. Duncan, who currently serves as the Chairman of the Board for CEBN’s parent organization, the Business Council for Sustainable Energy, brings high-level energy sector experience to the table. Lynn Abramson, President of the CEBN offered the following comment: “The CEBN is grateful for Emily’s commitment to joining the CEBN’s Board of Directors. Through her current role as BCSE’s Chairman of the Board and years of collaborating with Emily in varying capacities, I have witnessed her leadership and talent in action. I have no doubt that the CEBN will benefit greatly from her experience and strategic input as we work to take our organization to the next level.”

Ms. Duncan is Director of Federal Government Relations at National Grid, an electric and natural gas company with customers in Massachusetts, New York and Rhode Island. Previously, she was Director of Government Affairs & Counsel at the Solar Energy Industries Association, the national trade association for the solar industry. Three years ago, Ms. Duncan played a key role in advising and supporting the transition of CEBN from its prior home at The Pew Charitable Trusts to its new home within the BCSE. She has continued to provide thoughtful and strategic guidance to CEBN since that time.

In light of her recent nomination and approval to serve on CEBN’s Board of Directors, Ms. Duncan commented: “I am excited to work more closely with the Board and staff to help advance the CEBN’s mission of enhancing opportunities for small and midsize clean energy companies. In working to bring the CEBN into the BCSE family over the past three years, it is clear that the partnership between our respective organizations has not only met but exceeded our expectations.”

Before joining SEIA, Emily was an energy attorney at Winston & Strawn LLP in Washington, DC, where she represented various utilities and development companies before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. She also serves on the Advisory Board of the University of Pennsylvania’s Kleinman Center for Energy Policy, is President of the Board of Directors for the Women’s Energy Network, and serves on the Boards of the British American Business Association and Women in Government Relations. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and earned a law degree from Duke University.

Ms. Duncan is filling a vacant seat previously held by Mark Wagner, who recently retired from his position as Vice President of Government Relations at Johnson Controls. Dr. Abramson commented, “We are so grateful to Mark for his service on the CEBN Board for the past three years, and wish him the best in his retirement. Mark’s thought leadership helped build the foundation for our transition from Pew to BCSE and the successful development of new programming and business lines post-transition. We are excited to have Emily stepping in to continue and build upon this legacy.”
