Washington, D.C. – Lisa Jacobson, President of the Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE) and Lynn Abramson, President of the Clean Energy Business Network (CEBN) provided the following statement in response to the proposed rules for the technology neutral clean electricity tax credit framework issued by the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS):

“BCSE and CEBN appreciate the efforts by Treasury and IRS to craft proposed rulemaking on the tech-neutral energy investment and production tax credits – a critical step forward in implementing the investments of the Inflation Reduction Act.

“The establishment of these credits represents the most significant change to the energy tax code in 30 years, providing a long-term market signal to businesses and investors over the next decade while also providing pathways for new low- and zero-carbon technologies to be recognized in the tax code. We are carefully evaluating the guidance with the broad range of clean energy and energy storage industries represented in our networks and look forward to commenting with our recommendations.”
