CEBN President Lynn Abramson Testifies in Congressional Small Business Subcommittee Hearing on Growing the Clean Economy

WASHINGTON, D.C.–The Clean Energy Business Network is pleased to highlight that CEBN President Lynn Abramson will provide testimony today for members of the House Committee on Small Business Subcommittee on Rural Development, Agriculture, Trade, and Entrepreneurship. The hearing, titled “Growing the Clean Energy Economy,” will address the policy issues impacting small businesses in the American clean energy industry. Ahead of her testimony, Dr. Abramson provided the following comments:

“I appreciate the Subcommittee’s efforts to hold this hearing examining the policies impacting small businesses across the country that are creating a cleaner, more affordable, and more reliable energy future for all Americans. The Clean Energy Business Network includes more than 3,000 business leaders across all 50 states, just the tip of the iceberg among the 3.4 million Americans working across the clean energy economy.”

Abramson added, “Renewable energy, energy efficiency, and natural gas comprise the growth sectors of the U.S. energy industry, and small businesses comprise more than 99 percent of U.S. businesses. As the clean energy economy grows, so too will the economic impact of small businesses working in these low- and zero-carbon energy sectors.”

The CEBN has worked at the intersection of policy and business development of small to mid-size clean energy firms since its founding in 2009 by The Pew Charitable Trusts. In 2017, CEBN spun out of Pew to incorporate as nonprofit subsidiary of the Business Council for Sustainable Energy—a coalition of leading clean energy trade associations and corporations.

Abramson noted, “I look forward to working with members of the Subcommittee to accelerate the growth of the clean energy economy—and small businesses within it—by establishing clear, stable, market-based policy signals.”

The hearing is scheduled to begin at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 in Room 2360 of the Rayburn House Office Building. It will be livestreamed on the Small Business Committee’s YouTube channel.
