The Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Technology Transitions (OTT) recently launched a new resource called the “Lab Partnering Service (LPS),” an online tool for innovators, investors, and others interested in clean technology solutions. The service is a great resource to access the latest technology information, projects and patents from across the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and its 17 national laboratories. The three primary tools offered by the LPS are as follows:

• Connect with Experts: This feature enables direct interaction with subject matter experts from the various labs. You can utilize this tool to receive clarification on technology questions or ask about existing lab resources and partnership opportunities most relevant to your technology.
• Access Technical/Marketing Summaries: This aspect provides information on patents, patent applications, and publications available for licensing or further technological development.
• Search a Visual Patent Database: This tool is developed using the IN-SPIRE Visual Document Analysis and the Scalable Reasoning System (SRS) and enables a visually-facilitated search of the patent content contained in the Lab Partnering Service.

In short, this resource serves as a bridge between a diverse set of energy professionals by providing multi-faceted search capability across numerous technology areas and national laboratories.

In addition, the large network of experts from the national laboratories can help you find resources to address technical challenges you may be facing. Michael Sams, CEO of AMSEnergy, participated in a beta-testing session with DOE’s Office of Technology Transitions in the final stages of development of the LPS platform.
